The origin of insect wings

The origin of wings is an interesting biological puzzle, especially within the hexapods. I was in the process of researching a post on this topic when I discovered someone better suited for the job beat me to it. Check out this awesome article by Christopher Taylor, of Catalogue of Organisms.

By the way, I am still working on a massive post about arthropod evolution and phylogenetics, expect it sometime next week.
